Elizabeth Roach was born in PEI, grew up in Souris, PEI, moved to Toronto at age 18, and lived in various cities throughout Ontario. Elizabeth returned to live in PEI at age 35 with the loves of her life: her husband, daughter and son. Elizabeth accepted employment as Account Consultant at Aliant, the third largest Telco in Canada. During this time she completed a “Management Development for Women” course of studies at UPEI, focusing on “the professional development of women in business and challenges surrounding “breaking through the glass ceiling.” She has also completed an Information Technology certification through St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia
Her favorite pastimes are boating on "their river" with her husband Allen;
sunbathing on their dock; reading (sometimes 2 books at a time); writing
about real people and real life situations; and beachcombing and
collecting the sea-glass, driftwood, and rocks that float in to shore.
She also nurtures a passion for interior decorating and home design. She shares “women talk” and party planning during countless
lunches with her daughter, Alaina.
At 52 years of age, in 2006, one of Elizabeth’s lifetime goals was
achieved: In Montreal she attended her first live Elton John concert with
her husband of 32 years. Next on her agenda is a trip to Australia.
Elizabeth’s plans are to write full time in retirement and in preparation
has currently started two books, one of which she is co-authoring with a
friend. She resides in her dream home on the water in rural Prince Edward Island.
Alaina Roach O’Keefe was born in Owen Sound, Ontario. To her delight, her family moved to Prince Edward Island when she was 10 years old. Alaina has recently completed her Bachelor of Education (2005) and her Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology (2003) from the University of Prince Edward Island, and is currently working on her Masters in Applied Health Services Research (ARTC-UPEI).
Alaina Roach O'Keefe is both an educator and a researcher. She works at UPEI as a Research Coordinator for Family Literacy in Rural and Aboriginal Communities in Atlantic Canada. Her research interests lie in the areas of intergenerational literacy, child and adolescent health, and inclusion. Alaina also enjoys traveling, running, UFIT, and boating with her husband, Sean. She loves red wine and planning parties (weddings, birthdays, surprises, themes, etc).
Tammie Rose was born and raised on Prince Edward Island. Her
greatest feminist influence is her mother, who never saw her gender
as an inhibitor for anything (especially when it came to physical
labour). Tammie is expecting her first child in June, and the event is
increasing her interest in children's issues.
