Lynette Adams

An addict of hand-me-downs, second-hand shops, and leftover meals, Lynette Adams recently purchased brand NEW furniture for the first time in her life. Whether this is a step toward adulthood or just a mild nervous breakdown remains to be seen. She makes a mess of jazz and an art form of karaoke. When nobody is looking, she does a little belly dancing. She has spent most of her adult life working with young people, either volunteering as a youth group leader or working with college students. She fancies herself a world traveler because she has visited Europe and Africa. Her current obsession is a visit to Prague that was conceived in 1999 and has not yet been made reality.

A true Islander, Shauna hails from the Eastern end of the Isle in Souris.  Shauna is a NEW graduate from the University of Prince Edward Island Business Administration program.  At UPEI she focused mainly on Marketing and International Business, and completed the Co-operative Education program.  She recently joined the team at Innovative HealthwoRx, a comprehensive workplace wellness provider in Charlottetown, as a Marketing and Communications representative.   As part of this position Shauna also tries to bring on new clients and research new ideas and programs.

While not working Shauna loves to try new foods and sports, make new friends, and of course, go shopping for NEW clothes!

rsRebecca Shorten

After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in history at the University Of Prince Edward Island, Rebecca J. Shorten is continuing her education at the University of Northern British Columbia. The focus of her Master’s thesis is on the Chinese involvement in British Columbia’s gold rushes occurring in the second half of the nineteenth century. She enjoys creative pursuits including writing and painting, and appreciates the nature of her world – even the rain.

Rebecca has this to say on the topic of NEW: "I like to get NEW things. Call me consumeristic, but its true. Some would even go as far as call me a shopaholic. But I can’t always afford this addiction. So one way I satisfy this craving is to buy something small, like a NEW pair of socks. Nothing beats the feeling of a NEW pair of socks. My advice, then, to all Edwards’ readers is to indulge a little in a NEW pair of socks – your toes will be in tootsies heaven!"

jwJenni Worrall

Jenni Worrall is a local government officer in Hertfordshire, just outside London, UK.  She grew up in the middle of England but after a stint as a poor student in the country's capital decided that inflated house prices and traffic congestion were just what she was looking for, so is currently enjoying life on the edge of the world's greatest city.

Jenni's fascination with gender issues was initially ignited by the work of her feminist academic mother and has continued to be fuelled by her own academic research into women's lives, culminating in a MA in Women's History at Royal Holloway, University of London.  Now she is a proper tax-paying gown-up and is attempting to dig deeper into the experiences of women in the workplace, something she is finding particularly illuminating in her own public service organisation.

Jenni’s looking forward to a NEW chapter in her life when she finishes her MSc in Public Service Management in September.  She’s currently thinking about what she’s going to do with all the spare time she’ll have and hopes to take up a NEW hobby, perhaps something that gets her away from the text books, like sky-diving!
