The Enchanted House by Beth E. Janzen
Published by Acorn Press, 2006

Rather different from her chapbook Night Vanishes in both tone and abstraction, Janzen’s The Enchanted House is a raw and emotional journey that sparks the forgotten memories and experiences of women. The language in this volume of poetry empowers these experiences with a poignant voice that is difficult to ignore. The turmoil that goes on inside the heads of women, whether inspired by lived experience or perceived inexperience, is often difficult to express and, through vivid imagery, Janzen brings it to life. This book would appeal to many women looking for empathy in the written word and for the imagery expressing the too often inexpressible.
