The province of Newfoundland and Labrador provides an ideal landscape for a beachcomber. According to Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism, with a land area of more than 400,000 km2, this province is larger than New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island combined! The province’s coastline encompasses nearly 17,000 km, most of which (about 9,500 km) consists of the island of Newfoundland’s coastline alone.

Newfoundland and Labrador is the place “where land, water and sky embrace like old friends” (NL Tourism, 2006).

This is North America’s most eastern landmass. It is here where the sun is first to dawn and set in North America.
